The Dashboard is the primary command center when logging into ScannerSky. It offers faculty, department chairs, and campus administrators an instant, real-time snapshot of daily attendance volume, campus scanner activity, and per-class monthly attendance calendars.

Overview & Description​

Think of the Dashboard as your morning attendance hub. In just a few seconds, you can verify how many students and employees have checked in across campus gates, monitor active scanner kiosks, switch between academic terms, and review individual class attendance calendars without digging through menus.

Key Dashboard Widgets & Controls​

1. KPI Summary Cards​

At the top of the dashboard, five real-time summary cards provide immediate operational insight:

  • Scans Today: Total attendance taps recorded across all campus scanners and mobile readers since midnight.
  • Scans This Week: Cumulative attendance check-in count for the current calendar week.
  • Active Persons: Total active students, faculty, and staff registered in the institution database.
  • Device Fleet Status: Live health indicator of campus RFID scanners (showing online, stale, and offline hardware nodes).
  • Total Lifetime Records: Complete historical archive of all attendance card scans ever processed.

2. Academic Semester & Term Selector​

Located in the upper filter bar, the Semester Selector lets you instantly adjust the scope of your dashboard:

  • Active Term Auto-Select: Automatically defaults to the currently active academic semester.
  • Historical Review: Select any past semester or summer term to review historical attendance trends and archived class records.
  • Current Term Badge: Visually highlights which term is marked as the official active school session.

3. Monthly Class Attendance Calendar Widgets​

Below the summary metrics, each active class displays its own interactive monthly attendance calendar card:

  • Daily Scan Indicators: Each day square indicates whether attendance was recorded for that date, with color-coded checkmarks and tap totals.
  • Month Navigation: Use the < Previous and Next > buttons on any class card to review attendance across different months in the semester.
  • Interactive Day Detail Modal: Clicking any date cell opens a rich pop-up dialog displaying:
    • Full list of students who tapped in for that session.
    • Exact arrival timestamp (e.g., 08:04:12 AM).
    • On-time vs. Late status indicator.
    • Quick links to individual student profiles.
  • Export Spreadsheet Shortcuts: Click Export Excel or Export Roster directly from the calendar header to generate ready-to-print grading spreadsheets.

Role-Based Dashboard Experiences​

ScannerSky automatically customizes the dashboard layout based on your assigned user role:

  2. Select your desired Semester from the top dropdown if reviewing past terms.
  3. Scroll down to inspect individual class attendance widgets or click a date to inspect live student check-ins.
Access & Permissions Notice

The attendance calendars, metrics, and widgets displayed on your dashboard may be subject to user or group permission restrictions. Access to permissions can be coordinated with your administrators if needed.

Q: Who would likely have access to view or manage metrics on the Dashboard?

Q: Are the scan numbers updated in real time?
A: Yes. Whenever a badge tap is recorded at a scanner or during mobile check-in, the database records the scan immediately. Refreshing the dashboard displays the latest scan totals.

Q: Can I view attendance records from previous semesters?
A: Yes. Select any past term from the Semester dropdown at the top of the page, and the dashboard will load the corresponding historical calendar data.
